The race for Ottawa South in the June 12 Ontario election will feature one of only two all-candidates debates in the eight area ridings at stake. The Ottawa South debate, set for Thursday, May 29, has been organized by the Canterbury Community Association with the support of Faircrest Heights and Alta Vista CAs as well as South-East Ottawa Community Health.
The debate will be held in the auditorium at Hillcrest High School, 1900 Dauphin Avenue. The auditorium seats approximately 700 and there is plenty of parking space available either on the Hillcrest grounds or on nearby streets.
While the debate itself will run from 7:00 until 9:00 pm, there will be an opportunity for voters to chat with the candidates beforehand, beginning at 6:00. The debate begins with two-minute opening statements by the candidates, the order having been chosen in a random draw. Questions from the audience will be based on a random draw of numbered tickets which will be available at the door, and there also will be two-minute closing statements by the candidates.
