Congrats to the Ottawa Jr. Canadians

Got some great local news over the weekend.

The Ottawa Junior Canadians  (OJC) won the Ontario Eastern Championship on Tuesday, April 9th at the Brian Kilrea area against the Athan Aeros. The OJC’s not only won the championship, but also swept three consecutives series and won 15 consecutive games in the playoffs! Congrats to all the players, they worked hard and showed perserverance and determination!

Yes indeed – Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents.

Speaking of spring cleaning…

Spring has sprung and it’s time to clean. Don’t throw away all those precious treasures yet, because the Awesome Alta Vista Garage Sale is planned for Saturday June 8th. The more participation, the better so lets’ keep the momentum going and get as many participants as possible. One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.

Mark your calendars and let the AVCA know if you (or your street plan) to participate. As we get closer, we’ll share an on-line map of participants to make sure buyers and sellers find one another.

It’s almost Clean up the Capital time

The AVCA Greenspace Stewardship Committee has registered with the Cleaning the Capital for a greenspace clean-up on May 5 and May 6. This will be our 20th year. The area includes Pleasant Park Woods, Kilborn Park, Grasshopper Hill and Kilborn Greenspace. Participants are asked to pick up litter while out enjoying our beautiful greenspace. Signs will be posted a week ahead and supplies (bags, gloves) will be provided. This has been a very successful clean-up over the years.
